Axonius was founded in 2017 by Dean Sysman, Avidor Bartov, and Ofri Shur, Israeli cybersecurity veterans who identified a foundational but often overlooked problem in enterprise security: most large organizations cannot maintain an accurate, complete, real-time inventory of every device, cloud resource, user account, and piece of software connected to or running within their environment, even though nearly every other security control, from vulnerability management to access control, depends on first knowing what needs to be protected. This visibility gap is compounded by the sprawling, constantly changing nature of modern IT environments, spanning on-premise infrastructure, multiple cloud providers, remote employee devices, contractor accounts, and shadow IT that employees may adopt without formal approval. Axonius's platform connects to an organization's existing security and IT management tools, such as endpoint protection software, cloud provider APIs, identity systems, and network scanners, via integrations, and correlates the often overlapping and inconsistent data from all these sources into a single, deduplicated inventory, or "asset graph," of everything connected to the environment. This unified inventory then lets security teams identify coverage gaps, such as devices missing endpoint protection or accounts that violate access policies, and enforce automated remediation policies when gaps are found. Axonius has positioned its product as complementary to, rather than competitive with, most existing security tools, since it aggregates and makes sense of data those tools already generate rather than replacing them. The company has grown quickly among large enterprise and government customers that face particularly complex asset visibility challenges, and has raised very substantial venture funding from investors including Bain Capital Ventures, YL Ventures, and Lightspeed Venture Partners, reaching a valuation exceeding $2 billion.
