Microsoft and Meta are reportedly cutting internal use of Anthropic’s Claude.
Six short takes on this week’s private-market headline numbers and what each one measures.
Continuation funds give investors a way to sell and managers a way to keep holding. How much say do LPs have in the deal?
A prospectus seen by Reuters shows Anthropic lost about $42 billion in 2025, roughly $34 billion of it an accounting charge, and reportedly points to a valuation above $2 trillion and a listing after the midterms. OpenAI cancelled its October model release after safety testing, and Florida asked a court to halt ChatGPT development. In M&A, AMD agreed to buy World Labs for $8.2 billion, and Monzo is reportedly in early talks with Nubank at £8 billion to £10 billion.
Meta committed another $21 billion to CoreWeave on Wednesday, bringing total contracted AI cloud spend to $35 billion through 2032. Then on Friday, Anthropic signed its own multi-year compute agreement with CoreWeave to run Claude workloads at production scale. With those two deals, CoreWeave now counts all four of the largest AI model developers — Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Meta — as customers, and its total contracted backlog has reached $66.8 billion. Anthropic also completed its employee tender offer at $350 billion, but employees sold far fewer shares than investors wanted to buy. SiFive raised $400 million at a $3.65 billion valuation in what the CEO called the company's last private round before an IPO. And a SpaceX SVP who now holds the title of xAI president told staff the AI unit is "clearly behind" the competition. The week the receipts showed up.
SpaceX and xAI are reportedly in merger talks ahead of SpaceX's planned IPO—a potential combination that could create the most valuable private company in history. Meanwhile, Waabi raised $1B and partnered with Uber to deploy 25,000+ robotaxis, PaleBlueDot AI hit unicorn status, and Northwood Space landed both $100M in funding and a $50M Space Force contract.
